Lucky Mehra, a PhD student with Drs. Peter Ojiambo and Christina Cowger, spoke to about 100 visitors to the Northeast Ag Expo in Tyner, NC. Lucky explained the life cycle of Stagonospora nodorum, a widespread fungal pathogen that causes a sometimes damaging leaf and glume blotch of wheat. He also described best management practices and his research on factors that determine epidemic severity.
Dr. Barbara Shew recently visited Dr. Kuldeep Jadon who was a Borlaug Fellow from India at NCSU last fall. Drs. Shew and Jadon visited several peanut fields and farmers in the state of Gujarat India. They visited his fellow scientists at the Directorate of Groundnut Research, and scientists at Junadadh Agricultural University. They also traveled to KVK Centers in Porbandar and Kodinar where they met with farmers and discussed Extension Programs in India and the United States.
